CHURCHGOERS are hoping that graves of memorable local people will attract visitors to a Greasley churchyard.

St Mary’s is one of the oldest churches in the area and has a 15th century tower with eight pinnacles and parish registers dating back to 1600.

One of the most famous graves is that of Benjamin Drawwater, an Eastwood surgeon who travelled with Captain Cook.

Alan Boyden said: “If you have time to spare and fancy a look round then pay us a visit.”
