On Saturday 28th June several events are taking place as part of theannual celebration in the town including a Heritage Exhibition and Book Fair at Central Methodist Church on Baker Street with free admission from 10am to 3pm.

“Local groups are putting on displays to show people how much history is on offer,” said Maureen Newton of Hucknall Heritage Society.

Those booked so far include: Hucknall Heritage Society, Family History Group, Boys Brigade, British Legion, Tourism Group, Byron Cinema Project, Hucknall Library D.H. Lawrence Museum, and several book authors will have tables.

“These people put a lot of effort and time in to organising the event, so please come and encourage them by looking, chatting, or calling in for a cuppa,” added Maureen.

“We are very lucky that Hucknall’s military historian James Grundy is coming to present a talk at 11am about the war and how Hucknall people were involved. And at 1.30pm, author David Bowman is going to present a talk on how he is able to find stories between the paving slabs of history.”
