A family from Langley Mill are appealing for information after a man paintstripped their three cars and slashed all the tyres in the middle of the night.
The family-of-three who live on Bank Street launched the appeal as they no longer feel safe in their own home and want to catch the criminal who caused £20,000 worth of damage to their cars.
The incident took place on December 23 at 2.30am and was caught on film by the family’s private CCTV camera.
In the footage, a man is seen paintstripping the three cars - a Honda Civic, a Ford Focus and a rare Honda Mugen - before slashing all four tyres of each car.
The criminal is aged late 30s to early 40s, is wearing a balaclava, bagging joggers, dark trainers with a white sole and a distinctive Adidas jacket with a large logo on each shoulder.
The 49-year-old mum said that at first she thought the cars were covered in frost but when she opened the front door she was hit by the smell of paintstripper.
She added: “We have watched the CCTV footage again and again.
“The man is walking round with an industrial can of paintstripper and is very blasé about the whole thing - he is in no hurry.
The incident has been reported to the police who are currently investigating it.
She added: “We don’t feel safe in our own home and we want to catch him before he does the same to someone else.
“We need people to watch the video just in case they say ‘oh that’s such and such’ and make an anonymous call to the police.”
If you have any information or recognise the man in the CCTV footage please contact the police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
