An EASTWOOD resident has hit out at plans for the new youth centre, questioning whether it is justified to spend so much money when vital services are being cut back.
The resident, who did not want to be named, lives in Derby Road and described the centre as an ‘eye sore’.
She told the Advertiser: “With all the cuts going on is it justified?
“I’m not saying we shouldn’t have it.
“They (teenagers) need somewhere to go, but I don’t think it’s money well spent when it’s £2m. It’s simply too much.”
Building work is currently underway on the new youth centre and a committee of school pupils and local teachers and councillors has been set up to decide on what services the centre will offer once it is up and running.
