a BURGLAR has been jailed for more than three years after breaking into a house in Eastwood.
Ashley Ball broke into a house at Hilltop but was caught on CCTV cameras making his escape while carrying several stolen items down the road.
Cops raided his house in Brinsley, where they discovered the stolen items, and a short time later Ball handed himself into police.
Sgt Andy Browning at Eastwood Police Station, said he was pleased at the tough sentence.
“It’s a good positive result,” he said.
“It’s good CCTV evidence that he was convicted on. From that, a warrant was carried out at his address and he subsequently handed himself in.
“It’s a good sentence and we’re quite happy with it.”
Ball, who lives in Broad Lane, broke into the house in Nottingham Road, Hilltop through a back kitchen window during the early hours on September 14 this year.
He stole a laptop, handbag and mobile phone but was spotted by CCTV operators.
At Nottingham Crown Court last Thursday, Ball admitted the burglary and was jailed for three years and three months.
He had already spent 35 days in custody on remand which will count towards his sentence.
Speaking to the Advertiser after the sentencing, Sgt Browning revealed the 28-year-old had previous convictions for burglary and had been jailed for the offence before.
