KIDS at Kimberley Primary School made model boats at home to help parents get more involved with helping with homework.
The seven- to 11-year-olds made all sorts of boats from submarines to replicas of the Titanic using papier mâché, wood and carboard.
Headteacher Jennifer Porter said the model-making ‘improves home and school communications’.
She added: “It’s a way of parents understanding that they can help with homework and its not all about maths and English.
“It gets boys in particular more switched on and gets dads involved which is good because it’s often mums helping with homework.
“The kids are always extremely proud of what they have done.”
The models are now displayed around the school and an assembly will be held where parents can come and have a look at them all.
