WATNALL Pre-school has launched a gardening project aimed at teaching children that growing your own produce is good for you.
The Tiny Tots Gardening Scheme was organised by supervisor Helen Smart and includes a make-believe garden centre shop inside, and vegetables growing outside.
Nuthall councillor Philip Owen donated £500 towards the scheme, from his county council divisional fund.
Mrs Smart said: “We would like to buy child-friendly gardening tools and containers as well as seeds and plants, to encourage our little green-fingered gardeners.
“Some of the money from Cllr Owen’s fund is going towards a new display board which will be used to promote pre-school events and activities.”
The playgroup meets at the Victoria Institute in Main Road from 9am until 3pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9am until 12 noon on Fridays. Ring Mrs Smart on 0115 945 8574.
