There is clearly a wealth of photographic talent out there if our brilliant Specsavers
Life Thru The Lens photographic competition is anything to go by.

Stunning shots of sunsets, wildlife and iconic sites in Eastwood and Kimberley have readily been sent in by those hoping to win a top digital camera worth hundreds of pounds provided by our sponsor Specsavers, of Bath Street, Ilkeston.

Among the entries that have flooded into our email inbox are these shots featured here.

One is of a spider on its web snapped by Brian Shore at his home on Noel Street in Kimberley.

The second is a stunning shot through the trees by Alison Loydall.

Both the Advertiser and Specsavers have joined forces to bring you this wonderful opportunity, now it is down to you, our readers, to get out and about with your cameras and smartphones and start capturing wonderful images.

The only limit is your ambition and creative flair. Can you sum up the town’s industrial heritage in a single shot? Perhaps the old Kimberley Brewery would provide the perfect backdrop?

The next step is to email or post your entry to us with specific details (SEE RIGHT).

The competition will run for several weeks to allow you to take advantage of the changing seasons to add atmosphere to your shots.

And we will showcase some of your entries each week in the paper and online.

Once the competition closes, a group of finalists will be selected before a panel of judges select the overall winner.

There will then be a presentation night at the Specsavers store where the finalists’ images will also be exhibited.

As mentioned, Specsavers Ilkeston is providing a top prize of the latest digital camera.

Krishna Parmar, director at Ilkeston Specsavers, said: “We’re really pleased to be sponsoring Life Thru the Lens . We can’t wait to see your entries.”
