COUNCIL budget cuts have meant Nottinghamshire’s fleet of mobile library vans will be reduced from seven to three.
Stops will be reduced at ‘under-used’ locations and longer, more central stops, such as at care homes, will be introduced to replace lost ones.
Changes to the service follow a detailed examination of routes, a postal survey of 4,000 mobile library users and the council’s wider budget consultation.
For more information about the new timetable and routes which begin operating from April 4, go to www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/libraries or call 08449 80 80 80.
Cllr John Cottee said: “Due to our current budgetary constraints, we’ve had to take a long, hard look at where to focus our limited resources for the mobile service. We carried out a detailed review and consultation before deciding which stops should be discontinued.”
