More communities plan a Jubilee party

SEVERAL communities in the Broxtowe borough have signed up for a street party to celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Nottinghamshire County Council has received 108 applications for street parties, and 12 of them are in Broxtowe.

A survey published by the Local Government Association last month placed the county second only to Hertfordshire for the number of street parties being planned nationwide.

People wanting a street party need to register it with the council so traffic orders and any special access needs can be put in place.

The council will arrange to deliver traffic cones and road signs the week before the event.

Peter Goode, traffic manager at Nottinghamshire County Council, said he was ‘delighted’ at the number of applications.
