Crime in Eastwood has increased since this time last year.

Police figures reveal that on the Eastwood South ward, which includes the town centre, there have been 55 crimes reported so far this year, compared to 53 during the same period last year.

Burglary figures have nearly trebled, from two reported last year to seven this year, and the number of thefts has risen from 14 to 17. Other areas that have seen an increase include violence and car crime.

Areas that have improved include criminal damage and fraud.

The figures were revealed at an Eastwood Town Council meeting held on April 8 at Hilltop.
