MP calls for pension honesty

Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero has called for the Government to be more open and honest with pensioners about changes to their pensions.

Ms De Piero called for more honesty after new figures revealed that 1,080 pensioners in Ashfield are set to receive a rise in the state pension of just 87p in April - not the £2.58 a week as previously promised by the Government back in December last year.

As well as affecting over 1,000 folk in Eastwood and the rest of the constituency, the lower than expected rise will hit at least 39,670 pensioners across the East Midlands too and may cause many to struggle.
