Eastwood MP Gloria De Piero joined protesters at the town’s library last weekend to make her feelings known about the cutback in opening hours.
‘Read-in’ events were held nationwide last Saturday as a way of showing how much libraries were used, and to make a stance against local authorities slashing the opening hours to save money.
Nottinghamshire County Council is proposing to cut Eastwood library opening from 43 per week to 26.
Across the county many small and medium sized libraries will have their hours halved and bigger libraries, such as West Bridgford, will have their hours cut back up to 20 per cent.
More than 400 libraries nationwide will potentially close.
