New footie matches to reduce trouble

Keen footballers can kick off their weekend at Eastwood Community Centre with new sessions every Friday night.

Small sided football matches are being hosted at the centre for men aged 14 to 25 to try and keep youngsters off the streets and lower local crime and disorder levels.

The matches, organised by Broxtowe Borough Council start tonight, April 12, at 8pm and cost just £1 per person.

Two local volunteers from Eastwood Town Juniors Football Club and the local police are part of what has been named the ‘Friday Night Football Project’.
