A NEW headteacher has started at Larkfields Infant School in Nuthall.
Jo Cuthbert said her biggest challenge is maintaining the ‘outstanding’ label given to the school by Ofsted inspectors, and doing her best to follow in the footsteps of Sue Rose who was at the school for 20 years.
Mrs Cuthbert, who lives in Wysall, started at the beginning of term. “It’s fantastic,” she said. “I’ve had tremendous support from the staff and parents. I don’t feel like my feet have touched the ground.”
The new headteacher was previously the deputy headteacher at Trent Vale Infant School in Beeston and also used to work in a bank.
She said it was watching her own children develop with very different schooling needs and attitudes towards learning that made her opt for a change of career.
“They are all very different with differing levels of ability and I became really interested,” she said.
Mrs Cuthbert has done a masters in special needs.
