The new Mayor of Eastwood said he wants to encourage more tourists into the town.
Ken Woodhead said one of the issues top of his priority list was promoting the DH Lawrence Centre to improve the footfall in the town.
“I want to promote the DH Lawrence Centre more within the tourist industry, encourage history and try and get more tourists into the town,” he said.
The Mayor said it was ‘a big honour’ to be asked to take the chains and said he would ‘take pride’ in the job.
“I will help the people of Eastwood with all their issues and help promote the town,” he said.
Cllr Woodhead is chairman of Eastwood Tenants’ and Residents’ Association, but was only elected onto the council for the first at the recent parish elections.
He said his other priorities were getting the youth back into work and encouraging more involvement in the community from local businesses.
He said he would like to see local firms offer their support to charity projects and sponsorship.
