School inspection authority Ofsted has raised concerns about schools in the East Midlands in its annual regional |

The report found that education provision in the East Midlands is ‘plagued by mediocrity’ with too few pupils in Nottingham attending a school or college rated good or outstanding.

It also revealed that Nottingham students do poorly in education beyond the age of 16.

Ofsted raised particular concerns as almost 158,000 pupils in the East Midlands are attending schools that are not yet good and only 53 per cent of students achieve five A* to C grades - the joint lowest percentage of all regions in the UK.
