An OPEN day was held at St Mary’s Church in Greasley last weekend.
Members of the church offered trips up the tower and there was a wedding dress exhibition, tours of the churchyard, games for the children and registers of baptisms, burials and marriages open for inspection.
Church organisations including the choir, the bellringers, Christian Aid and the Mothers Union put on displays and there were stalls selling jewellery, cakes, books and plants.
The open day raised over £1,000, which will go towards the church roof fund.
Thieves stole the lead off the church roof last year, causing £30,000 worth of damage. A further £30,000 worth of damage was caused from rain getting in.
