Letter: Positive response in bid to improve bad footpath
I respond to the recent letter about the unsatisfactory condition of Greasley footpath 83, particularly during periods of bad weather.
Last November, this situation was reported to the county council’s Rights of Way team, who are responsible for the footpath’s maintenance and upkeep, with little success.
However, after making further representations, including photographic evidence, we have at last received a positive response.
We are assured an application has been made to the county’s administration for funds to remedy the situation. A decision should be forthcoming this month.
Hopefully, this will comprise a durable all-weather surface, rather than a quick fix that will last only one season. The former may be more expensive to start with, but will be cheaper in the long run.
