Opposition councillors demand answers over housing

OPPOSITION councillors have demanded an inquiry into the housing plans amid claims that decisions are being made ‘behind closed doors’.

The Labour leadership hit out at their Tory rivals for revealing council policy through a Party Political leaflet.

Labour group leader Cllr Howard Griffiths announced that he and deputy leader Cllr Frank Phillips would now be seeking a joint meeting with Jeremy Jaroszek, Chief Executive of Erewash Borough Council, ‘as a matter of urgency’ to discuss their concerns over how the situation has been handled.

“These decisions should have been made at full council in full view of the public,” added Cllr Griffiths.

“We are concerned that there is a secret decision-making process.

“This skulduggery in darkness could breed suspicion and distrust from the people in Erewash that all parties should be proud to represent.”
