Pair threatened with wood

A PAIR of burglars burst in to an Ilkeston living room on Tuesday night and threatened the occupants with a piece of wood.

They smashed the front door in and demanded cash from the couple, who were just about to go to bed at their Hornbeam Close home in Larklands, when the raid happened at about 12midnight.

One of the occupants fled upstairs, while the other called the police.

At this point the burglars ran off.

When police arrived they arrested a 31-year-old man nearby in connection with the burglary.

He was still in custody at the time the Advertiser went to press.

The piece of wood was described as one metre long.
