Over recent months, there has been a growing trend for motorists to park, sometimes for up to ten minutes, on the double yellow lines outside Kimberley post office. Besides being illegal, this selfish practice causes considerable inconvenience to those caught in jams.
It is potentially dangerous; on occasions parents have been obliged to pass vehicles straddling the pavement by pushing buggies into this extremely busy stretch of road and mobility scooter users, with their way similarly obstructed, face the same risk.
This hazardous parking is likely to cause a serious accident should tempers fray and a frustrated driver swerve past the blockage towards oncoming traffic.
It is time to crack down on this threat to public safety before a serious accident occurs.
