The service needs milk, cereals, tinned fruit, rice pudding, deodorant and shower gel in particular.

Eastwood Food Bank is calling on residents to give food and toiletries to support the service and aid struggling families in the area.

Eastwood Volunteer Bureau, which runs the food bank, posted on social media this week: ‘We are now desperately short of some food and are having to buy, using up our dwindling reserves.

‘We need milk, cereals, tinned fruit, rice pudding, deodorant and shower gel in particular.

‘If you can help, we are open for donations Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings. Thank you all so much.’

Food offerings can be dropped off at Eastwood Volunteer Bureau, Wellington Place, Eastwood, NG16 3GB.

The food bank is also in need of a new volunteer to buy food in on a weekly basis.

Volunteers posted: ‘We need someone to buy food from local supermarkets for us, using our money of course, on a weekly basis.

‘Must have own car (mileage allowance given), be reliable and fairly strong (lifting trays of cans).’
