Awsworth Village Hall is set to begin hosting ‘Zumbini’ classes this May for residents from all over Eastwood, Kimberley and the surrounding areas.

The music-based sessions, aimed at zero-to-five-year-olds, offer a chance for parents to dance, play and let loose with their children.

Lauren Donnelly, of Little Legs Ltd, who will be running the classes, said: “We mess around, sing songs, dance, mums and dads get involved – it’s a good opportunity for people to come and spend some time together as a family.

The classes are aimed at zero to five-year-olds.

“The embarrassment fades away and everyone just gets involved and has fun. It’s a very lively class. A real crowd pleaser.”

Starting on May 13, the 45-minute sessions will take place at the village hall every Thursday morning from 9.30am until 10.15am.

Mum-of-four Lauren said there is nothing else like it in the area and is excited to get things moving.

“It’s sort of like Zumba for mini people. I feel it’s something people are crying out for around here as there’s nothing else really like it at the moment that parents can take all their kids along to.

“I’m looking forward to starting sessions and meeting people.”

Zumbini involves a variety of dancing, playing instruments and singing along to different music.

Lauren said: “We go through loads of different tracks, some we sing, some we play along to with instruments and try out different movements with our bodies. Just get everyone up and moving. I can’t express enough how much fun it is.

“For a lot of new mums, it can be daunting going along to a parent and toddler group if you don’t know anyone.

"But because it’s a bit of fun and it’s not serious, everyone can get involved without having to worry.”

Lauren is also on the hunt for another venue somewhere in the Eastwood and Kimberley area to start hosting baby massage classes and baby sign language.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to start offering those sometime in the summer.”

Zumbini sessions cost £6, with an introductory offer and discounts for bringing along multiple children.
