Sutton singer crowned winner of Ashfield and Eastwood’s Got Talent

A singer from Sutton was named the winner of Ashfield and Eastwood’s Got Talent.

Singers, dancers, musicians and poets all applied to take part in the show with the age ranging from ten to 57-years-old and the judges were MP Lee Anderson, Sam Howlett from Kirkby, Rebecca Price from Eastwood and chef David Marshall from Porterhouse in Annesley.

The top five acts were chosen for the Grand Final and were joined by three wildcard acts chosen by the audience.

Ashley Westlake, 16, from Sutton, performed a version of Ed Sheeran’s Perfect which earned from the top spot of the show as well as a £500 prize and a paid singing slot at Porterhouse when it re-opens.

Ashley said: “It has really boosted my confidence winning Ashfield and Eastwood’s Got Talent. I'm honestly over the moon.

"And being offered to sing in chef Dave’s restaurant is incredible, it's my first booked gig I'm so looking forward to it.”

Others acts in the final included Maddison Bottomore, 11, from Kirkby, Dakota Zia Fletcher, nine, from Sutton, Jack Leeson, 21, from Huthwaite, Faith Hall, 12, from Sutton, Helen Storer, 57, from Selston and Rose Bates, ten, from Brinsley.

Faith Hall, Maddison Bottomore and Jack Leeson were all runners up with Rose Bates winning the MP Award of the evening.

Lee Anderson, MP for Ashfield and Eastwood, said: “It was lovely to see all age groups take part and watch the show. As soon as Covid restrictions are eased, we are going to showcase the acts at The Diamond in Sutton.

"I also can’t wait to see Ashley perform at the Porterhouse.”
