Police make fresh appeal over Nuthall M1 death

Police investigating the death of a Nuthall man who was hit by a van while walking along the northbound hard shoulder on the M1 have asked for help to trace his movements in the hours leading up to the crash.

Kelvin Cook died after being struck by a Ford Iveco between junctions 25 and 26 at about 7.45am on November 19.

He had been seen in Nottingham city centre about four hours earlier and then was walking from Sandiacre through the Hart Avenue Estate to get to the motorway.

Pc Simon Roberts said: “In order for the coroner to be able to hold a full inquest and for us to complete our investigation, we need to establish what happened in the hours leading up to his death.”

“We would like to speak to anyone who may know why Mr Cook had been in Sandiacre, or who was with him between 4am and 7am.”

Mr Cook was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham after the crash, where he later died from his injuries.
