Inspirational Eastwood great gran Lilian Goodwin has celebrated her milestone 100th birthday with a special party.
The centenarian was surrounded by family friends and staff at Eastwood House Residential Care Home for the celebration.
Samantha Butler, her granddaughter, said: “My grandmother is amazing – up until being 96 years old, she would still catch the bus to Eastwood town centre to do her shopping and pay her bills.
“It wasn’t until last year, when she was 98, that things got a little too tough and she had to move into Eastwood House, where she is now being looked after by the lovely carers there.
“She still retains her fantastic northern sense of humour and is an inspiration to us all.
“Grandma and I became best of friends throughout my childhood, as mum and dad both went out to work.
“She and grandad Tom babysat me and our best years and happiest memories were spent at their caravan at Surprise View Caravan Park, Papplewick.”
As well as receiving a letter from the Queen to mark her milestone, Councillor Susan Bagshaw, Broxtowe mayor, attended Lilian’s party.
