Reader letter: Easter generosity helps us beat cuts

Through your letters page may I express a sincere thank-you to Dan Jolley, who is the manager of the Tesco Express store on Hill Top, for his continued support to Age Concern Eastwood.

As a registered charity we strive to provide a worthwhile community service to the elderly in Eastwood and the surrounding district.

It becomes increasingly difficult year on year with cutbacks to funding and ever-increasing challenges that a small charity like ours has to overcome.

Last week Dan came and judged our Easter bonnet parade and provided three large boxed Easter eggs to the three lucky winners.

He also donated three bottles of champagne which will be used towards a fundraising event Cllr Keith Longdon and I are organising for later in the year at the wonderful venue of the Eastwood Hall Hotel.

This will hopefully bring the community and many small local businesses together for a fun-filled event in Eastwood. Watch this space!
