Savings made from printing costs

Savings of £483,000 have been made by Nottinghamshire County Council by reducing printing costs over the last two years.

The savings have been made by employees making a 25 per cent reduction in printing and copying, a freeze on the purchase and leasing of new printers, and the removal of over 400 desktop printers.

The council is set to make a further £1m saving on its print costs by 2014, which will include printing made in non-office council environments, such as libraries.

Future plans include the introduction of more energy efficient printers and the use of new technology which will improve the management of all printing at the authority to create further savings including directing larger print

jobs to the most efficient printers.
