BROOKHILL Leys Primary School in Eastwood is one of only three schools in the county to have achieved the St John Ambulance Schools Award.

The award is made to schools that have prepared staff and pupils with the skills required to stay safe and healthy and deal with emergencies.

It was presented to the school on Wednesday September 21 by Mo Costin, commissioner for youth with St John Ambulance Nottinghamshire, and is also a member of the schools liaison team.

School liaison teams train pupils for the Young First Aider certificate as well as giving them the opportunity to put their skills into practice against teams from other Nottinghamshire schools.
