Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry has called on the borough council to scrap its plan to build thousands of homes on greenbelt after a speech in the House of Commons.
During the debate last Friday Ms Soubry attacked Broxtowe Borough Council for accepting a target of 6,150 homes when neighbouring borough Rushcliffe refused to accept its figure.
After the debate, she said: “Rushcliffe left the process and halved their housing target.
“If Broxtowe did the same there would be no threat to our greenbelt.
“Broxtowe still has time to determine its own future and I would urge all the political parties to work together and defend our green belt land.”
