British servicemen and women in Afghanistan are set to benefit from parcels collected by residents in Selston.
Hundreds of shoe boxes containing toiletries, treats and other essentials have been filled ahead of being collected by personnel from Chilwell Barracks in Nottingham.
Special ‘doggie boxes’ were also filled for the dog teams working alongside the armed forces and these contained food, treats and toys.
Selston councillor Gail Turner said: “I’m extremely grateful to all the local businesses and companies which have donated goods for this collection – we’ve had a tremendous response.”
“I must thank the volunteers who have worked so hard.”
