Sensory system unveiled

A NEW £35,000 sensory sound and lighting system will be officially unveiled at Victoria Park Leisure Centre on Friday May 11 by the new Mayor of Erewash, Cllr Jennifer Hulls.

The new interactive, multi-sensory system is the first of its kind in this area and will be used in the teaching pool to provide extra enjoyment and positive therapy for children with disabilities.

The system will enable children to listen to therapeutic music and watch moving colours and shapes around the room – something which has been proved to be beneficial for children with disabilities.

Funding for the system has come from Derbyshire County Council’s Aiming High programme for projects which support children with disabilities.
