Six Broxtowe Borough Council projects are in the running for national recognition – more than any other in the country.
The projects have been named finalists in the Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) Service Awards 2013.
The council has also been shortlisted for Overall Council of the Year in Service Delivery, based on its finalist entries.
The APSE Awards recognise excellence in local authorities across the UK.
The council has been shortlisted in the following categories: Best Health and Well-being Initiative; Best Public/Voluntary Partnership Working Initiative; Best Community and Neighbourhood Initiative; Best Information and Communication Technology Initiative; Best Service Team Street Cleansing and Streetscene; Best Service Team Sports and Leisure and Cultural.
Mayor of Broxtowe, Cllr Iris White, said: “To be selected as finalists in so many areas is a fantastic achievement and recognises our commitment to providing high quality services, despite reduced budgets.
“It’s a real credit to the dedication of the council employees who work hard every day.”
Results will be announced on September 5.
