POLICE are encouraging residents to secure their property after a spate of break-ins.
Officers have reported break-ins in Awsworth, Giltbrook and Newthorpe over the past week with cars, outbuildings and garages being the targets.
Pc Dean Spalding said: “People need to ensure all doors and windows are locked even when they are indoors. Valuables such as car keys, handbags and mobile phones should be kept out of sight.”
The officer said residents should always set an alarm if they go out and advised to set timers to come on at different times around the house.
He also suggested fitting sensor lights to the outside of properties, and said items should always be hidden from view in vehicles.
