There was difference in opinion over what should happen to Eastwood’s twinning agreement in a town council meeting this week.

Cllr Josie Forrest said if the council could not afford to host dignitaries from Eastwood’s twin town Szolnok, the twinning agreement should end.

But Cllr David Bagshaw said he wanted to keep the agreement ‘alive’ and allocate money in the budget to invite them over in the near future.

In last month’s meeting councillors agreed to turn down an invite to Szolnok this year because they could not return the invitation.
