SWING singer Ian Campbell was presented with a trophy by Kimberley Town Council for his recent charity pub tour.
Council chairman Shane Easom presented Mr Campbell, aka Frankie Martin, the trophy to say well done for raising over £140,000 for the Help for Heroes charity – smashing his original £18,000 target.
Mr Campbell, a former town councillor who won one of our New Year Honours awards this year, toured the country in his van, performing in pubs every night for over a year.
Cllr Easom had the trophy specially made and presented it at a town council meeting earlier this month.
Mr Campbell said: “I’m overwhelmed by everything I’ve received since finishing the tour. It knocks me back a bit really because I didn’t do it for accolades.”
The singer also received a personal letter from Bryn Parry, the founder of Help for Heroes.
