Teenage boy charged with driving ‘erractically’ around Eastwood on a moped

Officers arrested two boys after a report of a moped being taken before being driven erratically around Eastwood, Giltbrook and Newthorpe.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with seven motoring offences in connection with the incident including taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving without due care and attention and failing to stop. He is due to appear at Nottingham Youth Court on June 27.

A 17-year-old boy has been released without charge.

The moped was reported to have been taken in Main Street, Eastwood, at around 12.30pm on Wednesday, June 13, and ridden around the area before being abandoned in Coronation Park, Eastwood, where the rider and pillion passenger ran off.

The rider was detained by officers in nearby Plumptre Way, Eastwood, and the pillion passenger was tracked through gardens by police dogs before being arrested in Castle Street, Eastwood.
