Roads in Awsworth, Selston and Watnall are among the top ten speed camera hotspots in Ashfield and Broxtowe for the last year.
The Advertiser can reveal that the speed camera on Awsworth Lane near Trinity Farm was one of the cameras which caught the most speeding drivers this year.
The hotspots which were released as part of a Freedom of Information request revealed that the cameras on the B600 Nottingham Road Eastbound in Selston and B600 Main Road in Watnall were also in the top ten speed ticket spots in the two districts.
Nottinghamshire Police issue tickets to drivers caught exceeding the speed limit by the cameras and the money from fines goes directly to the Treasury.
A police spokeswoman said: “Speed cameras are sited in areas where excessive speed has killed or seriously injured.
“Speed limits are the legal limit, not a guideline -by breaking the limit, you break the law.
“A large proportion of the money generated from fines goes back into funding the delivery of awareness courses, with a smaller percentage invested back into road traffic policing and road safety initiatives.”
The exclusive information released to the Advertiser also revealed that the speed camera which caught the most speeding drivers in Ashfield and Broxtowe this year is on the A1 Elkesley Southbound where the speed limit is 40mph.
