Police investigating last week’s four lorry crash which closed the northbound M1 are appealing to other drivers who were on the motorway at the time of the accident to contact them.
A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: “One line of enquiry being pursued is that a small red car with a faulty rear light may have prompted an HGV to brake suddenly, leading to a collision involving four lorries close to Trowell service station at around 3.15am.”
At the time of the crash last Thursday there was thick fog and visibility was poor.
The northbound carriageway was closed between junctions 25 and 26 until 3.30pm.
Anyone with information about the accident can call Nottinghamshire Police’s Crash Investigation Unit on 101, ext 800 2225.
