PROPOSALS to allow councils to fine utility companies who dig up roads during busy times have been welcomed by Nottinghamshire County Council.

The plans are being put forward by the government in a national consultation.

Cllr Richard Jackson said: “Anything that helps speed up the time it takes for utility companies to complete their work or move it to a quieter time of day where there is less chance of inconvenience to road users has to be a good thing.”
