Unemployment falls by almost half

New figures reveal unemployment in Broxtowe has fallen by almost half in the last four years, with 815 fewer people in the district claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance.

Broxtowe has seen a 49 per cent fall in people claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance compared to 2010 which means more people with the security of a good job and a regular pay packet.

MP Anna Soubry hailed the figures as “great news” for the area.

She added: “This is happening because we’ve been backing businesses to create more jobs with lower taxes and better infrastructure, and fixing the welfare system to make sure work pays.”
