VIDEO: Bomb scare sees Idlewells evacuated

Shoppers and staff were evacuated from the Idlewells shopping centre in Sutton this afternoon after a suspicious package was found.

Bomb disposal units were at Sutton's Idlewells Shopping Centre today after an unidentified package was found.

Security staff were quick to clear the building shortly after 2pm today after the alarm was raised, with reports suggesting the package had been found in the toilets.

The area was cordoned off and police refused people access into the building.

The bomb squad from the Royal Logistic Corp arrived at the scene at around 3.30pm, and entered the building a short time later.

Bomb disposal units were at Sutton's Idlewells Shopping Centre today after an unidentified package was found.

However, the bomb squad left about an hour later and staff were allowed back into the building.

Idlewells are yet to confirm the outcome of the incident, although it is not believed anyone was hurt.
