A warning has been issued for Eastwood residents to be on their guard against bogus calls about electricity checks.

Several people in the town have complained about calls from an unknown company wanting to make appointments to check supply.

The callers would not give a number and were very persistent.

A police spokesman said: “Police and trading standards advise never to have work done by someone who contacts you unexpectedly or puts a leaflet through your door. It’s often difficult to trace them if there are problems with the work.”
