Work has started on a £60,000 BMX track at Broxtowe Country Park.

Plans for the course had originally been discussed in December 2012.

Now the money needed to put the plans into action has been released.

A group of local young residents approached Nottingham City Council with the idea and have been involved at every stage of the process, including consultation and design.

Councillor Graham Chapman, portfolio holder for resources and neighbourhood regeneration, said: “The support from the local community has been overwhelming.

“The new facilities, which were identified by locals as a key element in the development and improvement of the park, will create an attractive and safe environment for young citizens and adults alike.”

Work is due to be completed in November.

The country park backs on to the Mornington Crescent area in Nuthall and has been a hotspot for anti-social behaviour.
