Broxtowe Youth Mayor takes office

The Advertiser would like to put the record straight after incorrect details appeared last week about Broxtowe’s new Youth Mayor.

The prestigious position has in fact been taken up by Harroun Kinoucha, 16, from Bramcote School, who takes over from Adam Stockwell.

The Youth Council also elected 15-year-old Jade Cox, also from Bramcote School, as Deputy Youth Mayor.

They made their first public appearance at a council meeting where Harroun and Jade met the Mayor of the Broxtowe, Cllr Iris White, as well as members.

Harroun was voted Youth Mayor by fellow Youth Councillors, against four other candidates.

Accepting the role, Harroun said: “I’m lookingforward to being Youth Mayor as you get involved in democracy and get to be in the driving seat, exploring different events and getting involved in lots of different things and meeting new people.”

Both Harroun and Jade will accompany Councillor White to a variety of events.

Our photo shows Harroun and Jade with Cllr White.

The Advertiser apologises for its inaccurate report last week.
