Long Eaton Sunday League

AFC Kimberley 4 Bass House 2

AFC Kimberley got back to winning ways at the expense of Bass House.

The first noticeable opportunity of the match fell to the visitors, Bass House carving the AFC defence open before being awarded a penalty for a foul - but keeper Rich Kelley saved both the spot-kick and the rebound from point blank range.

Bass House wasted two other opportunities before AFC grabbed the lead in the 21st minute, as Darren Barber’s cross was cleared as far as James Else who found the corner of the net with a fine volley.

The dragons added a second on the half hour mark when midfielder Gary Pickering found space 25 yards out before firing a rocket into the bottom corner.

Two minutes later AFC added a third, as a throw=in from Lloyd Harmer found Reilly Marshall on the edge of the penalty area and the big striker turned beautifully before curling a sublime effort into the top corner of the net.

AFC started the second-half slowly and Bass House pulled one back on 53 minutes as a cross was turned in at the back post.

There were 72 minutes on the clock when AFC grabbed a fourth. Brilliant work from Marshall saw him charge through the middle leaving twoplayers in his shadow before slipping in Vaughen Crompton who neatly rounded the keeper before finishing smartly.

Bass House pulled another back minutes later with a cross-come-shot which went straight in, but it wasn’t enough and AFC emerged victorious.

Man-of-the-match: Reilly Marshall.
