KYLE Ryde, the newly-crowned British 125cc Motorcycle Road Racing Champion, has been in action again as he ended his season at the Spanish circuits of Valencia at Jerez.
The 14-year-old was taking part in the last two rounds of the Spanish CEV Buckler 125cc series, which is runs alongside the 600cc Moto2 and 1000cc classes.
In front of more than 15,000 fans in a rainy Valencia, Kyle qualifed eighth in his group and 15th overall out of over 40 riders from around Europe.
Lacking the power of some of his high-class opponents, Ryde’s tenth-placed finish was no mean feat and he was even first British rider to greet the chequered flag.
The final round in Jerez saw qualifying again took place in the wet and that was reflected in Ryde’s grid placing of 20th.
A great start to the race saw him into the top ten early on, and after battling hard with several riders eventually finished in an excellent sixth place.
Next year will see Ryde back in the Moto GP RedBull Rookies Cup, and possibly back in Spain on a new Moto 3 machine.
There will be a fundraising event at Jacksdale Welfare Club on Friday, December 9 at 7pm. All are welcome.
