Saturday saw Kimberley Swimming Club members compete in day four of the Nottinghamshire ASA Age Group County Championships.
The swimmers travelled to Retford where the girls competed in the 200m breaststroke and the boys in the 1500m freestyle.
In the 200m breaststroke nine-year-old girls Lauren Shipley, Anya Deegan, Eleanor Aboutorab, Chloe Cheetham and Lily Orme all recorded excellent personal bests as did Chloe Bis and Eve McGrenaghan in the ten-year and Jade Calder in the 13-year age groups.
In the 13/14 year group Charly Neilson and Mollie Wright qualified in first and third places respectively for the final, which is precisely where they also placed in the main event, with Charly becoming the Nottinghamshire ASA County Age Group Champion and achieving a National Qualifying Time in the process.
In the 1500m freestyle Matthew Shipley knocked a massive 58 seconds off his previous time gaining a new personal best and the Midland District Qualifying time.
Going into the final weekend, with seven girls and seven boys events still left to gain valuable points from, a number of Kimberley Swimmers are currently in top ten positions, and with some still to compete in their favoured events it is hoped many will be able to return with trophies.
The climax to the competition on Sunday will see the team relay championships.
