Langley Mill Utd CC 2nds followed in the footsteps of the first team on Saturday by recording their first win of the season against Clay Cross.

Once again, with a limited bowling attack, the Millers where able to restrict Clay Cross to 194 after claiming the last wicket in the 46th over. Contributions from opener Wilmot (55) and Crowder (55) ensured that the visiting team posted a reasonable total and gave their bowlers something to bowl at.

Another superb spell from Ron Patel (1-44) and Steven Bailey (4-51) laid the foundations for part timers Lacey (3-16) and Ball (2-23) to mop up the remaining batsmen.

In reply, the Millers got off to a superb start as Ball and Pinder put on 56 for the first wicket before Ball was given out LBW off the bowling of Crowder for 25.

This left Wright and Pinder to take the Millers within 50 of the total before Pinder was bowled out for a superb 75.

Danny Pheasant joined Wright at the crease and they eased the home side to victory in the 32nd over. Wright with an unbeaten 54 and Pheasant 27 not out.

Man of the match was Lewis Pinder for a superb and elegant 75.

Next week the 2nd team travel to a familiar territory when they visit Chesterfield Barbarians, who won promotion with the Millers last season.
